Too is an English adverb that means among other things; also, furthermore and moreover.

As an African-American, I just assumed the name (Black Lives Matter) meant that black lives should be added to the list of all the other lives that clearly mattered.
Frankly, and in retrospect naively, I thought that the retorts of late were misguided. I thought to myself, well of course; blue lives matter, white lives matter, yes all lives matter. Then I realized that the creators of those other slogans were not hearing the implied "too" at the end of the Black Lives Matter slogan that I and many of my contemporaries were hearing. A couple of weeks have passed since I first posted this entry and I'm both pleasantly surprised by the acts of solidarity that I have read about or witnessed and saddened by the amount of hatred that has also been on display.
So if there is anybody out there still looking to have an open intelligent conversation about race relations in America, let's get started. Your two cents count!

Throughout Baltimore city and county, one only has to walk block or drive a mile to encounter many a “Black Lives Matter” poster. One major reason why this slogan initially was an issue is because the white lady (i.e. media outlets) transformed the conversation instead of bravely starting the conversation about police brutality. Today, corporations are cashing in the slogan. The likes of Amazon, Apple, Netflix and countless others recognize that black lives matter too for ratings and investor returns. Disagreeing with the slogan, today, is akin to being that person who still thinks that smoking cigarettes during pregnancy is good for the baby. The “too” should be implied. No one participates in a cancer walk and says “what about diabetes”, nor attends a Holocaust memorial and goes “those Native Americans endured the trail of tears, let’s use the Holocaust platform to remember them too”. The fact that the “too” is not implied and that uttering a statement that ‘black lives matter’ automatically is a semi anti-American sentiment says everything there is to be said about how little regard there is for black lives even in a “post-racial-post-Obama” society.
Thanks for adding your two cents. It is change to somebody.
